The PloProf derives its name from the French term Plongeur Professionnel (Professional Diver), and was arguably the first watch designed and built specifically for the diving professional. Bearing reference no. 166.077, the original PloProf debuted in 1970 after years of development in conjunction with Comex and famous explorer Jacques Cousteau. Its distinctive design and heavy emphasis on function over form with features such as a bezel lock (the orange button on the side of the case), crown lock, monoblock case with 600 meter water resistance, and other features eventually made the watch a cult classic.
Its possible this watch had water in it at one time. Currently it was inspected and is in great working condition. This watch should last another 30 years. The inside glass shows spots that indicate residues of water or similar. The Dial as well has slight bubbling and minor imperfections that can be observed with a loupe. Just beware of this possible issue as we will not accept claims that the watch has been exposed to water.
The watch truly looks awesome. Its a beast!
